Meet the faculty

Do the work. In person.

From stuck to a plan you can act on.

The Saturday Career Lab teaches you to move with intention: find where your strengths meet what the market pays for, get in front of the people who decide, and close the offer. You stop being a passenger in your career and start driving it.

The cohort

Who it's for

For experienced professionals, from individual contributors to C-suite leaders. You've built a career and you're ready for a better next move. You might be:

  • Stuck, undervalued or outgrowing your current role
  • Ready for a change, but not sure what's next
  • Looking to earn more
  • Frustrated with your job search
  • Considering a career or industry pivot
  • Returning to the market after time away
  • Moving from freelance or project-based work to full-time

The outcomes

What you leave with

Your own career direction, outreach approach, story and interview preparation. Built through hands-on work, not just notes from a lecture.

01

A clearer career direction.

Identify where your strengths meet market demand, then decide which roles or industries to pursue and how to position your experience.

02

An outreach approach.

Work on who to reach and what to say, so your networking puts you in front of the people who make hiring decisions.

03

Your story, ready to use.

Shape and practice the narrative you'll use in interviews and networking conversations, with live feedback from the room.

04

An interview-preparation playbook.

Practice the questions, your presence and the close, then leave with a plan for your next conversations.

Saturday, November 14, 2026

Five sessions. One plan.

8:15am · The Lab begins

Meet your cohort over breakfast and coffee, then we get to work.

2:45pm · Wrap-up

Leave with your plan. Start Sunday. The rest is up to you.

What the day covers

Career Market Fit

Find the point where what you offer meets strong demand. Decide what to pursue, then position yourself to win it.

Outreach and Networking

Proactive beats reactive. Reach the people who decide, before the job is posted.

Storytelling

Build the story people repeat when you're not in the room.

Executive Presence

Deliver your story with authority, in the room and on camera.

Offer-Focused Interview Preparation

Bring it all together and practice turning interviews into offers.

Morning stretch and guided meditation

Reset, so you do your best thinking for the rest of the day.

Working lunch and fireside chat

A fireside chat with Dr. Rob Carpenter: The Art of Getting Chosen, on how to persuade, influence and win career opportunities.

Final times will be shared with registered attendees.

Why it works

Built for how the market works now.

If you're pivoting careers, how do you get someone to take a chance on you?

We focus on three parts of how you come across to hiring decision-makers: qualified, interesting and likable. We call them The Three Perceptions, and the Saturday Career Lab is built around all three.

Executive Presence

Academic rigor.

Structured sessions, university-level teaching experience and time to apply the frameworks to your own career. Not just a day of lectures.

Designed for today's market.

Hiring has changed, and the playbook has to change with it. Everything here is built for navigating the current market.

From private coaching to the room.

The Lab brings frameworks from Luetrell's private career-coaching practice into a live group experience. You apply them to your own search, with faculty feedback and practice.

In person, on purpose.

Live feedback, collaborative exercises and unplanned conversations are built into the day. You can try your story out loud and hear how it lands before your next interview.

FAQ

Is now the right time?
If you're ready to work on your next role, career pivot or job search, the Lab gives you a focused day to build a plan and practice it. You don't need to have your next move figured out before you arrive.
Is there a virtual option?
No. The room is the point. The thinking, feedback and connections that make the day work happen best in person.
Is there prework?
Yes. To make the best use of our time together, you'll complete a short set of reflection questions after you register and share your résumé. It takes 45 to 60 minutes and is due Monday, November 9. We use it to prepare a personal read on your direction, which you'll get before the Lab.
Are you providing food?
Yes. A nutritious breakfast, a lunch spread with vegetarian options, and your coffee order waiting when you arrive. Water, a coffee machine and vending machines are also on site.
What should I bring?
A laptop and a notebook. If you join the morning stretch, which we encourage, feel free to bring your own yoga mat. If you don't have one, we'll provide one.
Will there be networking?
Yes, built into the day. Breakfast at 8:15 is your first chance to meet the cohort, and lunch is set aside for conversation too. The working sessions are collaborative, so you'll get to know the room as you go.
Where is it?
929 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90401, in Downtown Santa Monica: a bright, open space with great natural light. Metered street parking is available on 10th Street, and the Metro E Line's Downtown Santa Monica station is a short walk away.
Is there a buy now, pay later option?
Yes. In the QuickBooks checkout window, choose Affirm as your payment method and you'll see the monthly plans available to you, subject to approval. Affirm shows the terms before you confirm.
What if I can't make it?
Full refund, less a 1.5% processing fee, through Friday, November 6. After that, your tuition becomes a full credit toward a future Saturday Career Lab.
